Find your devices easily.

You take your devices everywhere. Which means you can leave them anywhere. Whether they are in a conference room or under a sofa bed, chances are they will not lose for long. The Find My app helps you find not only your iPhone, but also your IP, touch of iPod, Mac, Apple Watch, or AirPods.

See all your devices on the map.

Is your iPad at home or back in the office? Use the map to get a full picture of where your devices are – and where the loser may be. Some devices can also pinpoint their location when the battery is too low, to help you locate or dehydrate.

Play the sound to find your phone.

If you can’t find something but think it is near or close to others who can hear you, you can play the sound to identify your location. Your AirPods have a specially designed sound that can be displayed throughout the room – and you move on.

Put it in lost mode.

If your device goes missing, set it to Lost Mode to lock it immediately and start tracking your location. You can also show a message with a contact number on your device’s main screen, so anyone who finds you can call you without accessing their other information.

Find My iPhone is simple to use, requires little more than initial setup and activation, and can really save you. You should find that your precious device is nowhere to be found. The software works on other devices including your iPad, iPod touch, and even your Mac. This does not prevent you from losing your phone, but it can help you find out if you activate the feature before losing your device.

Step 1: Check Requirements

Find My iPhone is available on all devices equipped with iOS 5 or later. It is completely free and compatible with iPhone 3GS, third-generation iPod Touch, iPad, iPad Mini, and all subsequent versions. A valid iCloud account is also required and must be connected to a registered Wi-Fi network for devices to be located without cellular data.

Step 2: Find the application

The Find My iPhone app has been a part of iOS for a long time. You do not need to install the application, and you cannot remove it. Using another iOS device

Open My iPhone as described in step 2 (the icon looks like an old-school radar display), then enter your iCloud login credentials in the appropriate field. Once logged in, select a lost or stolen device from the list of devices set up with Find My iPhone to see the device’s location.

Once turned on, the feature will allow you to locate your device on the map. You can even play audio on the device to help you find it. Audio will play whether the device is in silent mode or the volume is muted.

Find My iPhone feature.

The Find My iPhone feature also comes with Lost Mode, which when unlocked will lock your iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, Apple Watch, or MacBook. This will prevent others from accessing the information stored on your device. You can also choose to display a custom message on the Lock screen, where you can provide your phone number and name so that when someone finds your device, they can easily contact you.

Then comes the activation Lock, which is automatically changed when setting up the Find My iPhone feature. As it should be seen, the lock will prevent anyone from using the phone unless a valid Apple ID and password combination are installed. This is the same ID and password that you will need to sign out of iCloud or turn on Find My iPhone feature.

To ensure complete security, there is also a remote ‘Erase’ feature, where you can have the opportunity to delete all your confidential information and other information even if you do not have direct access to the device. You can delete data from another Apple device again when Family Sharing is set.

How to turn on Find My iPhone

  • Go to the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad.
  • Your Apple ID will be displayed at the top. Tap on it.

There is also a Find My iPhone app that you can use to find a lost iPhone. Here’s how the app works.

  • Open the Find My iPhone app on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch.
  • Use your iCloud ID to sign in.
  • Once logged in, you should be able to see the devices linked to your iCloud ID.
  • Tap on the device you want to track.
  • Once you have selected the device, you will be shown the options for Play Audio, Directions, Notifications, Mark as Lost, and to wipe this device down.
  • Choose the option that suits your needs.

Using Find My iPhone on the Web

  • Open any web browser and launch iCloud.com.
  • Enter your credentials to log into your iCloud account.
  • In the main menu, click the Find iPhone option.
  • You may be asked to sign in using your Apple ID and password. Do so when prompted.
  • Click on the All Devices option at the top to see a list of devices connected to your account.
  • Click on the device you wish to follow.
