Find your devices easily.
You take your devices everywhere. Which means you can leave them anywhere. Whether they are in a conference room or under a sofa bed, chances are they will not lose for long. The Find My app helps you find not only your iPhone, but also your IP, touch of iPod, Mac, Apple Watch, or AirPods.
See all your devices on the map.
Is your iPad at home or back in the office? Use the map to get a full picture of where your devices are – and where the loser may be. Some devices can also pinpoint their location when the battery is too low, to help you locate or dehydrate.
Play the sound to find your phone.
If you can’t find something but think it is near or close to others who can hear you, you can play the sound to identify your location. Your AirPods have a specially designed sound that can be displayed throughout the room – and you move on.
Put it in lost mode.
If your device goes missing, set it to Lost Mode to lock it immediately and start tracking your location. You can also show a message with a contact number on your device’s main screen, so anyone who finds you can call you without accessing their other information.
Easily wipe.
Worried that your device might fall into the wrong hands? You may want to remotely erase your information and restore your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac, or Apple Watch to its factory settings. If you find it again, you can restore it from your iCloud Backup.

Find I can help you find a lost device – even when offline and sleeping – by sending Bluetooth signals that can be detected by Apple devices used nearby. This is a scenario that is very common. You and your friends go out for some drinks on Saturday night. A drink goes for two, then three, and somewhere between four shots of frighteningly good whiskey and your oh-so-great karaoke render of escape don’t stop billion ‘- you’re out for a casual night out painting. Fortunately, Apple is hip to this sort of thing. The Cupertino, California-based company has been offering the Find My iPhone feature with ease and with the mobile app since 2010, allowing you to remotely find, lock, or wipe your iPhone using iCloud or any other iOS device. Find My iPhone is simple to use, requires little more than initial setup and activation, and can really save you. You should find that your precious device is nowhere to be found. The software works on other devices including your iPad, iPod touch, and even your Mac. This does not prevent you from losing your phone, but it can help you find out if you activate the feature before losing your device.
Step 1: Check Requirements
Find My iPhone is available on all devices equipped with iOS 5 or later. It is completely free and compatible with iPhone 3GS, third-generation iPod Touch, iPad, iPad Mini, and all subsequent versions. A valid iCloud account is also required and must be connected to a registered Wi-Fi network for devices to be located without cellular data.
Step 2: Find the application
The Find My iPhone app has been a part of iOS for a long time. You do not need to install the application, and you cannot remove it. To find it, simply swipe down from the middle of your screen and type Find My iPhone to bring up the Spotlight search. Then just open the app and log in with your Apple ID.
Step 3: Activate my iPhone
Tap the main settings icon, and then tap your Apple ID banner at the top of the screen. Go to iCloud and then scroll down to find my iPhone. Select it and make sure it is powered on.
Find My iPhone allows you to track your iPhone in a pinch. This feature also enables Activation Lock, which safely stores your Apple ID on Apple’s activation server and automatically links to your device. Your password must be entered before turning off Find My iPhone, erasing your device, or reactivating it. It does not require any action on your part and serves as another security measure designed to prevent theft and unauthorized use of your phone.
Step 4: Lose your iOS device
Obviously, this is not recommended, but once lost is likely to find your iOS device because of which reason you have chosen to use the app for the first time.
Step 5: Locate your iOS device
Once lost, you can either use another iOS device or use your iCloud account on the web to locate your lost or stolen iPhone. Again, keep in mind that it is not possible to locate the device if you have not activated it before losing your iPhone function.
Using another iOS device
Open My iPhone as described in step 2 (the icon looks like an old-school radar display), then enter your iCloud login credentials in the appropriate field. Once logged in, select a lost or stolen device from the list of devices set up with Find My iPhone to see the device’s location.
Additional options for wiping the phone remotely and forcing sound – accessible via the action option at the bottom of the display – are also available, as well as a seamless lost mode option to lock the device with four digits Provides. Using your iCloud Account on the Web

Step 6: Take Action

How to Use Find My iPhone to Track, Lock or Erase Your Device
‘Find My iPhone‘ is a feature that is hollow and as the name suggests, it will allow you to get your iPhone in case you accidentally install it, or have it stolen. This feature can also be used to track other Apple devices including iPad, iPod Touch, Mac, Apple Watch, and AirPods, which may have been lost.
However, there are a few requirements for the Find feature for my iPhone to work as desired. First, the feature needs to be turned on for the device in question. Another requirement is that the target device must have an Internet connection as the feature does not support Offline Access in iCloud. With AirPods, the feature will work when AirPods are not present and are close to any device running iOS or iPadOS.
Once turned on, the feature will allow you to locate your device on the map. You can even play audio on the device to help you find it. Audio will play whether the device is in silent mode or the volume is muted.
Find My iPhone feature.
The Find My iPhone feature also comes with Lost Mode, which when unlocked will lock your iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, Apple Watch, or MacBook. This will prevent others from accessing the information stored on your device. You can also choose to display a custom message on the Lock screen, where you can provide your phone number and name so that when someone finds your device, they can easily contact you.
Then comes the activation Lock, which is automatically changed when setting up the Find My iPhone feature. As it should be seen, the lock will prevent anyone from using the phone unless a valid Apple ID and password combination are installed. This is the same ID and password that you will need to sign out of iCloud or turn on Find My iPhone feature.
To ensure complete security, there is also a remote ‘Erase’ feature, where you can have the opportunity to delete all your confidential information and other information even if you do not have direct access to the device. You can delete data from another Apple device again when Family Sharing is set.
How to turn on Find My iPhone

There is also a Find My iPhone app that you can use to find a lost iPhone. Here’s how the app works.
- Open the Find My iPhone app on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch.
- Use your iCloud ID to sign in.
- Once logged in, you should be able to see the devices linked to your iCloud ID.
- Tap on the device you want to track.
- Once you have selected the device, you will be shown the options for Play Audio, Directions, Notifications, Mark as Lost, and to wipe this device down.
- Choose the option that suits your needs.
Using Find My iPhone on the Web
- Open any web browser and launch iCloud.com.
- Enter your credentials to log into your iCloud account.
- In the main menu, click the Find iPhone option.
- You may be asked to sign in using your Apple ID and password. Do so when prompted.
- Click on the All Devices option at the top to see a list of devices connected to your account.
- Click on the device you wish to follow.
